Painting A Portrait In Gouache

Gouache is a medium that combines characteristics of oils and watercolor. Like watercolor it is water soluble and a painting can be built up with a succession of washes but also like oils it can be laid down opaquely and successive layers of paint can be used to paint over and cover what is underneath. In this video I share how I use this  flexible medium to build a fully realized painting.
